Traditional Gi BJJ training at Draco Fight Camp in Hua Hin, Thailand

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Gi) in Hua Hin

Experience the "Gentle Art" in its most traditional form. Training in the Gi (the kimono) adds a layer of technical complexity that rewards patience, strategy, and precision. At Draco's, our Gi program is one of three sessions within our BJJ program, focusing on the methodical application of leverage and fabric-based controls.

Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the fundamentals of self-defense or an advanced practitioner refining your lapel game, our sessions provide a structured environment to master the grips and transitions that define world-class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. If you prefer training without the uniform, explore our No-Gi BJJ sessions, or bring the family with our Kids BJJ program.

Grip & Lapel Study

The Gi allows for unmatched control. We break down specific positions and submission chains using collar and sleeve grips. You will learn the 'why' behind every transition, ensuring you understand the mechanical leverage required to dominate on the mats.

Technical Rolling

Put your skills into practice with controlled live rounds. The Gi creates more friction, leading to a more methodical, strategic pace. We prioritize an ego-free environment where you can test your techniques against resistance at our academy in the Hua Hin countryside.

Do I need my own Gi to start?

arrow

For your first trial class, comfortable athletic wear is fine. However, training in the Gi requires the traditional uniform. We have high-quality Gis available at the gym and can advise you on the best fit for your training journey here in Nong Kae.

Is Gi training slower than No-Gi?

arrow

Gi training is often more methodical because the fabric allows for stronger defensive and offensive grips. This makes the game more "technical" and strategic, focusing on building solid connections rather than relying purely on speed or athleticism.

Can I use my Gi from another school?

arrow

Yes. We welcome grapplers from all affiliations and lineages. As long as your Gi is clean and in good condition, you are welcome to wear it on our mats. We focus on high-level instruction and a supportive community in Hua Hin above all else.

How often should I wash my Gi?

arrow

Hygiene is vital for mat safety. You must wash your Gi after every single session. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean and professional training environment at Draco Fight Camp to keep all our students healthy and on the mats.
